Licensure Requirements for a Broker
- Minimum age of 18
- Must not have any criminal convictions relating to what is outlined on page 8 (section 4.1) of the Indiana Real Estate Broker Licensing Act
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Complete 90 hours of broker education through an Approved School
- Pass the broker exam
- Apply for broker license within one year of passing the exam. You can either Apply Online or download a printable application.
Licensure Requirements for a Managing Broker
- Must have been a licensed broker for at least 2 years
- Complete 24 hours of managing broker education through an Approved School
- Must be a resident of Indiana
- Apply for Managing Broker License

- Apply for broker license within one year of passing the exam. You can either Apply Online. For application instructions, refer to the IN.gov.
- Complete 30 hours of post-licensing education from an Approved School within first 2 years of licensure

Exam Info (Brokers)
The exam costs $53 and is administered on a computer in multiple choice format. The exam consists of 125 scored questions (75 national and 50 state law), and 5-10 pre-test questions that do not affect your score.
There is no distinction made between scored questions and pre-test questions on the exam. They are all mixed in together, so it is important that you answer each question carefully.
You must achieve a score of at least 75% on each portion to pass. You will have 2 ½ hours to complete the national portion and 1 ½ hours to complete the state law portion.
